The students then moved into independent work in which they prepared to deliver several different types of oral presentations. Some students practiced by themselves while others worked together on group-based presentations.During this course, each student was required to practice several types of presentation styles. On the day of the open class, one assignment was the presentation of a poem, in which the students focused on stress, timing, and rhythm. Another was a group presentation of an original dialogue, in which the students had to demonstrate voice control and natural use of gestures. A third was delivery of an original speech, in which the students had to focus on eye contact, gestures, and dramatic pauses aimed at building interest among the listeners.After some practice time in which the teacher gave one-on-one advice, students offered to present their work in front of the class. The students volunteered enthusiastically and spoke in front of the class without hesitation. The students were very receptive to the comments from the teacher towards their work and seemed to appreciate that the comments were well-tailored to their specic needs.
